SEWA Cooperative Federation brings together women’s cooperatives across diverse forms of work. These sectors reflect how women organise their livelihoods—across agriculture, production, services, and finance—through collective enterprise.
Working across sectors allows the Federation to understand how cooperatives function in different contexts, while remaining rooted in shared principles of ownership and democratic decision-making.
Land-Based (Agriculture & Allied)
Women farmers engaged in cultivation and allied activities, navigating inputs, production cycles, and market access.
Dairy
Women-led cooperatives managing milk production, collection, and enterprise operations on a daily basis.
Handicraft
Artisan cooperatives producing traditional and contemporary crafts, with a focus on quality, design, and market engagement.
Care & Services
Women working in cleaning, childcare, and home-based services, organising work that is often informal and undervalued.
Labour
Women in labour-intensive sectors such as construction, waste picking, organising collectively to improve working conditions and access opportunities.
Savings & Credit
Financial cooperatives supporting savings, credit access, and local financial decision-making.
Together, these sectors reflect the range of informal women workers’ work and how it is organised through cooperatives-collectives.
